Ok, my mechanic is me. So my bmw would not start. So I started watching videos online to see what was up, that and my repair manual. Well it seems it could be more than just the starter. lots of electrical bullshit. So I broke out my scanner code reader that I bought last year for this car. I checked the fuses, I checked the relay. You see, there is a warning in the book, you will have to take off the intake and lots of other parts, and online, everyone was pointing to all these other parts, you see bmw have this battery post that explodes in a crash and separates from the post, so I tore the cover off of it to see if it separated, it is called the bst, it was fine, now it has a mutilated cover:)  I had my battery checked it was find, but I bought a new one anyway, now kicking myself, but its good for 4 years. I got all my testing equipment out. So there was also this system in the car called Car access system, CAS for short, which will not let your starter engage if there is a problem. lots of post on how to check it, with a screw driver, taking the cover off of the junction box, I looked at both of them, but at that point, losing a screw. O its the worst part and those damn electrical connectors. I broke  a few now need to take and silicone them. the plastic bs gives me angst. I am a much better mechanic than I used to be. I have a dislike for mechanics, it is full of greasy thieves. I have been taken a few times over the years. now I would rather suffer, actually starting to like  working on my rigs. but everytime I usually break something. but like I said, getting better. So I decided to try and test the fuse with my test probe. I put it on the signal fuse, and it had no power, but when I pushed the button, equivalent of turning key, it showed 12 volts. started pulling parts, got to the starter, and did a post test, the main was hot, and when I pushed the key, the signal one was hot, but after watching over 20 videos, nobody showed the fuse test. they say check them, but that  is the way to see if it is the starter or your CAS module. Anyway, I ordered one from my go to parts place online, it came with a kit an new bolts and gaskets, the o’reilly and autozone ones did not and cost the same, well they give a core charge back. Ok I am going to get to work, I have to send a schedule of prices to the Architect, maybe make a video on that too. I like to play:)
