I recenlty read that Fred Devau had passed away. I worked for him on the wooden boat Desperado in the early 80’s . I have since learned more about freddy as he used to be called.  We had  a nice crew Mark Selvog also passed. Neil Vonsheele was also and the boat and I can not forget Ducky.

We were some drinkers, Selvog could tell a great tale. I can still hear his voice to this day. He was a Navy man. O and can not forget the skiff man Pete Devau, I think pete was a mayor of kodiak at one time. he was a quiet man, possibly the only other non drinkers. well ducky was a youngerster at that time. he was my buddy o pal, I remember one time walking on the Alitak docks looking down to my left talking to him and bashing my head on a pipe sticking out of the wall ha.  You know we did not make much money. but it was another experience of a lifetime. I really miss boats and the crew thing after all these years. Mark was the cook, and a very good one too. Me being a southern californa  hot dog, candy, pie eater, he made fish wild meat, anything taste good. Fred was a good man, I would often see him up at my grandparents bringing them some fish or wild game. I seen him up there more than anyone else.
